MFHC New Member Orientation 2023
Greetings and welcome to the Mead Fishing and Hunting Club.
An overview of the Club:
The goal of the Mead Fishing and Hunting Club is to have members who are true and good sportsmen and sportswomen and provide them with quality fishing and hunting, and enjoyable outdoor experiences in a select private setting. To attain this goal, all members are encouraged to catch and release, and kill fish and game only for immediate consumption while protecting the environment of the lake.
Your acceptance and use of the MFHC membership gate card is your acknowledgement that you have read and understand all MFHC bylaws, rules and regulations.

This is an overview of the Mead Fishing and Hunting Club Bylaws and Rules and Regulations. The Bylaws, Rules and Regulations were sent to you with your membership card. The Bylaws and Rules and Regulations are also provided here on the MFHC website. By accepting your membership card and using it to access the MFHC property you are acknowledging that you have read and understand the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations and will follow them accordingly.
MFHC is a non profit organization that is the oldest in the State of Colorado with a continuous membership and Board of Directors since 1927. There are five elected Board of Directors and there is an annual meeting usually held in September of each year at a location and time designated by the Board of Directors.
New members are selected as openings occur from applicants being sponsored by current members in good standing. Annual member dues must be received by August 31 each year. Each member is responsible to keep their contact information updated with the Secretary. Email is the preferred way for MFHC to get information to the members. You do not want to miss out on Club information because you did not update your contact information. If you do not have a way to get emails, contact a friend or family member who might be able to help you. Otherwise contact the Secretary to help with your situation.
Members and guests must conduct themselves in an orderly manner when on lake property. Guests can only use the property and lake facilities when they are accompanied by the current member.
Members and guests shall not damage any property, remove any rocks from the dam, throw foreign matter into the lake, tamper with head gates, or dig worms on lake property.
There is no swimming or water skiing in or on the lake.
Members can have 4 guests total and that includes family members at any one time for fishing or hunting. Members must be with their guests at all times.
All fishing poles must be attended except for short absences to the restroom, trips to your vehicle, etc. You are limited to 2 rods per person.
All fish kept for the member and guests are limited to the members daily limit of 6. Six fish total in aggregate for the members and guests each day. One member's daily limit is 6 fish. A member and 3 guests is still one limit of 6 fish total, not 24 fish.

All members have the authority to challenge any person on lake property for their membership card, bag limits, or any suspected violations of the rules.
Members and guests must keep the premises clean, pick up trash, spent shells, etc, if you brought it in you must take it out. Keep pets under control at all times and pick up pet waste.
Firearms will only be discharged on lake property while hunting during hunting season or as deemed necessary by the President. There is no hunting from the lake entrance east along the dam to the north pump house.
Boating shall only be at speeds causing no white water wakes, except during adverse conditions to get back to the boat ramp. All members using boats are required to follow invasive mussel protocols defined by Handy Ditch company and MFHC BoD, and State of Colorado.
All members boats and boat trailers will display the owners MFHC member number on the stern port side in 3 inch high numbers in visible contrast. Boat trailers will have the member number on the trailer tongue.
No vehicles may encroach on the south east side of the property by the handy Ditch Company building with in 70 ft of the radius away from the building to the west for any reason, either during turning, backing up or otherwise.
No off the road vehicles, ATV’s, motorcycles, OTV’s can be operated on lake property.
Each member is required to work at least one work day per year. If you do not work at least one work day a year you will be charged an additional $75 along with annual dues.
The annual meeting is on the 3rd Saturday in September.
Once more, your acceptance and use of the MFHC gate card is your acknowledgement that you have read and understand all MFHC bylaws, rules and regulations.
